TEESTA RIVER RAFING

River rafting is the latest adventure activity to arrive in Sikkim, and the Teesta River offers some world class opportunities. The major route is Makha-Sirwani-Bardang-Rongpo. Grade 2 to 4 rapids are interspersed with placid patches to float along, and plenty of white sandy beaches exist for overnight camping. High cliffs and gorges, along with bolder-strewn river beds, add to the thrill. The Rangeet River, with its more turbulent waters, also offers advanced rafting opportunities from Sikip-Jorethang-Majitar-Melli. The best time for rafting in Sikkim is from March to May and October to December.

TOURIST ATTRACTION IN SIKKIM

There are quite a few fun things to do in Sikkim, such as helicopter joy rides and cable car rides in Gangtok. However, the recent completion of mega tourism project aims to really place  Sikkim on the tourist map.

HELICOPTER RIDES

The Khangchendzonga Tourist Villa and Entertainment Park at Ranka, around 45 minutes from Gangtok, was inaugurated last week. This massive 17 acre fun park cost an astonishing 50 crore rupees (more than $10 million) to build. It combines amusement with education about the culture of Sikkim. Highlights include swimming pools, bowling alleys, musical fountains, and laser shows. There's also a dome shaped Sikkim Panorama containing fiber glass replicas of the important places in Sikkim, murals of ethnic communities, and traditional huts.
